Pickle Bloody Mary
Brunch called. It wants the brine.
The Pickle Bloody Mary is a brunch Bloody Mary built with a full ounce of dill pickle brine alongside vodka, tomato juice, lemon, Worcestershire, horseradish and hot sauce. It is savory, tangy and medium-spicy, served over ice in a dill-salt-rimmed pint glass with a pickle spear riding next to the celery.

How to make it
- Wet the rim of a pint glass with the lemon wheel and dip it in dill salt.
- Fill the glass with ice.
- Add the vodka, tomato juice, pickle brine and lemon juice.
- Add the horseradish, Worcestershire, hot sauce and pepper.
- Stir well with a bar spoon until cold.
- Garnish with a pickle spear, a celery stalk and the lemon wheel.
Bar tips
- The brine and the salted rim do the seasoning, so skip the usual celery salt in the glass and add a pinch only if it tastes flat.
- If your tomato juice is already salty, add the brine a quarter ounce at a time.
- Mix a pitcher of everything but the vodka the night before; the flavors meld overnight.
Make it your own
- Use gin instead of vodka and you have a pickle Red Snapper.
- Skip the vodka for a zero-proof brunch drink.
Drink responsibly. This one is for adults of legal drinking age. Want it without the booze? The zero-proof drinks are just as briny.
