Spicy Pickletini

Ice-cold sip. Slow chili burn.

A Spicy Pickletini is a vodka pickle martini with real heat: dill pickle brine, a splash of pickled jalapeño brine and fresh jalapeño slices shaken together and strained up. It opens cold and salty, then a chili burn builds, where the Classic Pickletini stays cool and clean.

Ingredients

Amounts for 1, in ounces.

  • 2 oz vodka
  • ½ oz dill pickle brine (spicy dill brine if you have it)
  • ¼ oz pickled jalapeño brine (from a jar of pickled jalapeños)
  • 2 slices jalapeño (plus 1 for garnish)
  • 1 dill pickle spear (for garnish)

Garnish
pickle spear and jalapeño

How to make it

  1. Chill a martini glass in the freezer or with ice water.
  2. Add the jalapeño slices, vodka, pickle brine and jalapeño brine to a shaker.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 15 seconds.
  4. Double-strain into the chilled glass.
  5. Garnish with a pickle spear and a jalapeño slice.

Bar tips

  • Leave the jalapeño seeds out for a gentler burn, or keep them in for more.
  • Strain right after shaking; the heat keeps climbing the longer the slices sit.

Make it your own

  • Add a half rim of chili-lime salt for an extra kick.
  • Use a few dashes of green hot sauce if you have no pickled jalapeños.

Drink responsibly. This one is for adults of legal drinking age. Want it without the booze? The zero-proof drinks are just as briny.
