Cucumber Dill Mule
Cool as a cucumber. Briny as a pickle.
The Cucumber Dill Mule is the coolest mule on the menu: muddled cucumber and fresh dill shaken with vodka, lime and a little dill pickle brine, then topped with ginger beer. It tastes like a garden-fresh pickle, greener and gentler than the Pickle Moscow Mule, with no chili heat.

Units
Amounts for 1, in ounces.
- 3 slices cucumber (about ¼ inch thick)
- 1 sprig fresh dill (plus 1 for garnish)
- 2 oz vodka
- ½ oz fresh lime juice
- ½ oz dill pickle brine
- 4 oz ginger beer (chilled)
- 1 cucumber ribbon (shaved with a peeler, for garnish)
- 1 lime wheel (for garnish)
- Glass
- copper mug
- Garnish
- cucumber ribbon, dill sprig and lime wheel
How to make it
- Muddle the cucumber slices and dill in a shaker.
- Add the vodka, lime juice and pickle brine.
- Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10 seconds.
- Double-strain into an ice-filled copper mug.
- Top with the ginger beer.
- Garnish with a cucumber ribbon, a dill sprig and a lime wheel.
Bar tips
- Double-strain so cucumber and dill bits stay out of the mug.
- Thread the cucumber ribbon onto a pick and lay it across the top; a copper mug hides anything inside.
Make it your own
- Use cucumber vodka and skip the muddling on a busy night.
Drink responsibly. This one is for adults of legal drinking age. Want it without the booze? The zero-proof drinks are just as briny.
