No. 51Whiskey, Bourbon & Shots
Dill Pickle Vodka Shot
Small shot. Big brine.
The Dill Pickle Vodka Shot is vodka and dill pickle brine shaken together over ice and served cold in one glass. Unlike a pickleback, the brine is mixed in rather than chased, so it goes down smooth, salty and garlicky. A dill-salt rim adds an extra hit of herb.

How to make it
- Mix the salt and dried dill on a small plate.
- Wet the rims of two shot glasses with brine and dip them in the dill salt.
- Shake the vodka and brine with ice for about 10 seconds.
- Strain into the shot glasses.
- Garnish each with a dill sprig.
Bar tips
- Keep the vodka in the freezer so the shot stays icy without much dilution.
- Dip just the outer edge of each rim; the brine already brings plenty of salt.
- Strain the brine through a fine sieve first so no seeds end up in the glass.
Make it your own
- Use dill pickle-flavored vodka for a double-dill shot.
- Use gin for a botanical, herbal twist.
Drink responsibly. This one is for adults of legal drinking age. Want it without the booze? The zero-proof drinks are just as briny.
