Sweet & Sour Pickle Shot
Bread-and-butter sweet, lemon sour, sugar on the rim.
The Sweet & Sour Pickle Shot is vodka shaken with sweet bread-and-butter pickle brine, a little lemon and simple syrup, served in a sugar-rimmed shot glass. It tastes like sweet-tart candy with a tangy pickle finish, which makes it the friendliest pick for pickle skeptics. The sweet brine is what sets it apart from the dill shots.

- shot glass
- Rim
- sugar
- Garnish
- pickle chip
How to make it
- Run the lemon wedge around the rims of two shot glasses.
- Dip the rims in sugar.
- Shake the vodka, sweet pickle brine, lemon juice and syrup with ice for about 10 seconds.
- Strain into the shot glasses.
- Garnish each with a pickle chip.
Bar tips
- Sweetness varies by brand: taste the brine, and skip the syrup if your jar is already candy-sweet.
- For more pucker, swap a quarter ounce of the sweet brine for dill brine.
- Superfine sugar clings to the rim better than granulated.
Make it your own
- Swap half the vodka for sour apple schnapps for a greener, candy-sour shot.
- Use bourbon for a mini sweet-and-sour whiskey shot.
Drink responsibly. This one is for adults of legal drinking age. Want it without the booze? The zero-proof drinks are just as briny.
