Hot Honey Pickle Beer

Sweet heat meets sour brine. Hot honey, cold beer.

A Hot Honey Pickle Beer is a light lager mixed with dill pickle brine that has been sweetened with chili-infused hot honey. The honey rounds out the salt and vinegar while the chili builds a gentle heat. It tastes like a sweet-and-spicy pickle chip in beer form.

  • 12 oz light lager (ice cold)

How to make it

  1. Stir the hot honey into the pickle brine until it dissolves.
  2. Pour the honey brine into a chilled pint glass.
  3. Tilt the glass and slowly pour in the lager.
  4. Garnish with a pickle spear and, if you like, a few red pepper flakes.

Bar tips

  • Dissolve the honey in room-temperature brine first; honey poured straight into cold beer sinks and stays put, and the cold lager chills the brine right back down.
  • If your hot honey is thick, microwave it for 10 seconds so it mixes easily.
  • No hot honey? Warm 1 tbsp of honey with a pinch of chili flakes and let it cool.

Drink responsibly. This one is for adults of legal drinking age. Want it without the booze? The zero-proof drinks are just as briny.
